Daniel’s “Seventy Weeks” vision in Daniel 8

by Diane D Louw (Foxcroft)

I am trying to get through Daniel’s “Seventy Weeks” vision in Daniel 8 and this is what i have come up with so far.  Any additions to these notes, would be appreciated.

Daniel was told to seal up the vision of the 70th week for the future (was also revealed to Hone in full in the Book of Revelations)

It is God’s dealing with the Jews and Jerusalem (Dan 9.24)

It sets the date for the First Coming of Christ (Dan 9.25) 7 + 62 = 69 weeks

The times of the Gentiles is set (Dan 9.26)(The Church period)

The tribulation period and the Anti-Christ is set (Dan 9.27)

Daniel was given the interpretation to the 70 weeks prophecy which sets clock turning to this prophecy:

The 70 years of captivity as prophesied by Jeremiah (Dan 9.13)

The issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem and the Coming of Christ would be 7 + 62 weeks = 69 weeks  NB:  70yrs – 49 yrs = 21 yrs into captivity

I was given the following information which i am adding here:

From the issuance of the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the Messiah’s arrival, there would be 69 weeks of years. It’s broken up that way (62 sevens and seven sevens) because it took 7 years to rebuild Jerusalem and 62 sevens for the Messiah… to arrive.

The Biblical calendar was 360 days per year. 1 week = 7 years therefore 69 X 7 = 483 years X 360 days/yr = 173,880 DAYS!

The decree to rebuild Jerusalem went out on March 14, 445 BC (See Nehemiah 2) The first coming of the Messiah was on April 6, 32 AD Palm Sunday (See Zechariah 9:9, Matt: 21:5,

Luke 19:28)

From March 14, 445 BC to April 6, 32 AD, there are exactly 173,880 DAYS!!     Prophecy is always 100% accurate.
